This monograph is based on a series of recent videos and photographs taken in Algeria, in which Zineb Sedira, born in France to Algerian parents, explores issues of cultural identity, displacement and memory. In doing so, her uniquely captivating works use the intimate perspective of her own experience to frame questions about the intersections of Eastern and Western culture. Presented here are a retrospective of her work since 1995, essays by Steven Bode, Coline Milliard and Erik Verhagen, and ‘Zineb Sedira in Conversation’, by Hans Ulrich Obrist.
