The zine is based on the photos Mourad took in a shanty town called Douar Chanti, which is also his hometown. Mourad strives to save memories of the slowly disappearing shanty towns and the people who live in them for future generations, doing so with an open heart and stunning visual language.

‘My long-term project “Up for sale,” is about my hometown Douar Chanti. I aim to create a memory that can be shared by future generations since the Moroccan government will eventually turn the shanty towns into brick buildings, so it’s important to tell the next generation about places, people, and things that may not be around in the future.’

The zine was printed with the support from American Arts Center, Casablanca, Morocco, and is based on the results of the Photobook making workshops led by Zoopark in 2022 and 2023.
